Confirmation of streptococci is important prior to serotyping.

Product description

Streptococcus antisera are polyclonal antibodies produced by immunizing rabbits.

Our Streptococcus sera are manufactured free of cross-reactions with known strains in vials with 1 mL ready-to-use antiserum. This is sufficient for a minimum of 50 reactions.

How to use

Streptococcus antisera are used for the capsular reaction test (Neufeld) and precipitation.

Neufeld

Equal quantities of antiserum and bacterial culture are mixed on a slide. The preparation is read under a microscope. A positive reaction is indicated by swelling of the cells.

Precipitation

Equal quantities of antiserum and extract are drawn up into a capillary tube – the serum uppermost, as the serum must diffuse down through the extract. A precipitate is visualized for a positive reaction.
