SSI Diagnostica Group strengthens H. pylori diagnostics in Europe

Copenhagen, May 1, 2026

SSI Diagnostica Group, a global provider of infectious disease diagnostics, has acquired Fischer Analysen Instrumente (FAN GmbH), a Germany-based manufacturer of breath test devices predominantly used for H. pylori testing.

The acquisition strengthens SSI Diagnostica Group’s gastrointestinal diagnostics portfolio and marks an important step in building a comprehensive H. pylori testing platform. Following the acquisition of Gulf Coast Scientific in 2025, which expanded SSI Diagnostica Group’s capabilities in urea breath testing, the addition of FAN secures a critical component in the testing workflow by ensuring reliable and scalable access to breath test instrumentation.

In a comment, Christina Lindved, CEO of SSI Diagnostica Group says: “Given that individuals infected with H. pylori have a six times higher risk of developing gastric cancer, I am very pleased that we continue to strengthen our H. pylori testing portfolio. This acquisition strongly aligns with our mission to enable better treatment outcomes and provide essential diagnostic solutions to patients worldwide”

Having collaborated closely with Gulf Coast Scientific for many years, FAN joins SSI Diagnostica Group with an established commercial and R&D partnership that supports a seamless integration. The acquisition has been welcomed by FAN’s CEO and owner since 2012, Martin Schaich, who states: “We have worked closely with Gulf Coast Scientific for many years, both commercially and with innovation efforts. When Gulf Coast became part of SSI Diagnostica Group, we immediately saw the potential of growing alongside the combined organization. We are therefore very pleased to now formally be welcomed into SSI Diagnostica Group”.

With established H. pylori offerings and a strong presence in the United States, SSI Diagnostica Group sees clear commercial and operational synergies in integrating FAN’s platforms with its existing portfolio. These synergies are expected to accelerate growth across the Groups’ direct and distribution channels in the U.S., as well as in international markets, including low- and middle-income countries where H. pylori prevalence is increasing.

The acquisition also supports SSI Diagnostica Group’s geographic diversification strategy. While the group already has a strong presence in the U.S., where it operates seven sites, expanding its footprint in Europe represents a significant opportunity to further strengthen its position in the European diagnostics market.

Nachum “Homi” Shamir, Chairman of the Board at SSI Diagnostica Group, adds: “The acquisition of FAN is a continuation of our M&A strategy, where we selectively acquire businesses that strengthen our ability to serve customers with integrated solutions”.
